Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party
Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
