Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American entertainer Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA this Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a statement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.
Pat Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
