The British tennis star earned the biggest victory of his career by rallying from a early deficit to beat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Even though he had earlier overcome Alcaraz on two separate matches, this victory marks Norrie's initial win over a reigning world top-ranked player.

"Massive. So big for me," stated Norrie, who becomes the newest British man in history to overcome a world No 1. "Returning from injury last year, I was defeated in the first round of qualifying rounds here. I just sought to enjoy my game in the closing months of the year. To achieve a victory like this, it's the greatest success of my career, my initial victory over the global number one and arguably the strongest competitor in the world right now."

The British player, seeded 31st in the world, also ended Alcaraz's dominant sequence of nine straight final appearances and 17 straight elite tournament wins, which was the top run of outcomes in the young champion's developing career.

Game Analysis

The top seed appeared to be moving confidently towards victory in the beginning as he cruised in the first set. Nevertheless, the British contender slowly battled back back into the game by executing with greater precision and dragging the Spanish opponent into lengthy, physical exchanges. Alcaraz, in spite of his extraordinary success, is yet to solve how to display his best tennis on indoor courts.
