Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
